Section: Apple NewsYesterday brought a rumor to surface that Apple was considering options to buy Quattro Wireless; a leading mobile advertisement company. Today, Apple confirmed the rumors by going through with the deal, leaving it with the newly named VP of Mobile Advertisement, Andy Miller (previously Quattro Wireless CEO) to spill the beans in a blog post earlier today.

Quattro Wireless is the leading global mobile advertising company, empowering advertisers and publishers to reach and engage their target audiences across mobile web, application and video platforms with unrivaled precision, transparency and ROI. - ‘About’ Quattro Wireless
At quick glance, it appears Apple have acquired a world leading mobile advertisement company, probably with plans to integrate advertisements into their handheld devices. A few months ago, an Apple patent came to our attention that detailed an ad-supported operating systemsomething that could show adverts on the desktop, likely based around what the user was doing. We haven’t heard anything about the patent since, but could it be put to use now that Apple has Quattro Wireless on board?
An ad-supported OS could be a feature of this infamous Apple tablet the world is talking about, although if such a tablet device is due to ship in March, Apple may have left it too late to implement Quattro Wireless’s services. Apple could be focusing their work around a more simple App Store integration; offering an option of revenue from developers offering their applications for free, but with integrated adverts from Apple. At this point, we can only wait and see.
