Regretting the choice to cheap out on that 8GB iPhone instead of splurging on a 32GB model? AirStash is aiming to fix some of your data storage issues with a device that claims it can add storage to your iPhone wirelessly via SD card.
It sounds awesomea way to increase your iPhone storage without buying a new iPhone. The AirStash could potentially solve problems for many iPhone users. You never really know how much space you’re going to use on your iPhone until it’s too late. And while the AirStash sounds nice, there’s no way that a developer can augment the iPhone’s internal storage without first implementing an app. Well, unless we’re talking jailbroken iPhones.
But there’s another purpose here that I think many other sites are missing. The AirStash could be a perfect tool for photographers on the go. Viewing images taken on a camera’s SD card could look at least slightly better on an iPhone’s screen when compared to the camera itself. And then there’s sharing of documents and files. This could be a quick and dirty way of sharing a PowerPoint or Excel document on the go. Of course, you could just e-mail it, too…
So, until there are more details about the AirStash, I can’t really determine how useful it will be. One thing is for certain, it’s very interesting, and I’m looking forward to finding out just how it can be used. They are unveiling this thing at CES 2010, which just so happens to be where I’m at right now.
